Building Communication Strategies Through Universal Design

Communication strategies built through universal design foster stronger connection with an audience and facilitate greater understanding across channels. Small adjustments in messaging and delivery can have an outsized impact on engagement, trust, and performance.

This session will explore practical strategies to ensure communications resonate with everyone. Participants will hear insights on language choices and communication practices that foster understanding, belonging, and alignment for everyone listening to their messages.

Bio:

Kelly Greathouse is passionate about marketing and communications because the industry is constantly evolving. When she’s not teaching remotely, she can be found leading communication efforts for GNC International. GNC is affiliated with franchise organizations in more than 55 countries around the world. Greathouse is responsible for making sure GNC International partners have access to the business-critical information needed for them to be successful.

Greathouse graduated from West Virginia University with a master’s degree in Data Marketing Communications while working with GNC. Prior to that, she obtained two undergraduate degrees from Point Park University focused on Acting from the school’s Conservatory of Performing Arts and Broadcast Journalism.

She and her husband live in Weirton, West Virginia where he is a professional firefighter. They have three children and a black Goldendoodle named Coco.

Their youngest son provides Greathouse with the opportunity to better understand neurodivergences in herself and others. Camden is non-speaking, and diagnosed with ADHD, autism, and Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome. Since trying to help him, she has discovered actionable tactics that facilitate greater neuroinclusion in how she communicates with others in her professional and personal life.
