"Authentically Engaging Multicultural Consumers"

Organizations of all sizes are taking a look at their marketing strategies and asking the question, “how to authentically connect and navigate relationships with a range of multicultural audiences?” Oftentimes specifically looking to connect with groups such as Black, US Hispanic, Asian & Pacific Islander, the LGBTQ+ community, as well as intersectional identities related to gender, age, ability and more. Uncovering a reality that in 2023 and beyond Multicultural needs to be embedded in everything we do—from influencer partners, to media outreach, to event activations.

In this session DE&I & Multicultural experts Alexis Davis Smith, CEO of PRecise Communications and Eric Winkfield, vice president at M Booth will engage participants in a meaningful discussion on the things marketers should consider from strategy brief to execution.

Bio:

Eric Winkfield is a skilled communicator with a range of experience in developing and implementing integrated marketing, corporate, DE&I and crisis/issues management communications strategy and programs for privately-held and publicly-traded companies.

Currently, He serves as a vice president at M Booth & M Booth Health in a newly created role where he balances serving as a senior counselor to a portfolio of high-profile clients and oversees the development and implementation of the two agencies diversity, equity and inclusion strategies.

Previously, Eric held public affairs and corporate communications management roles at Pepco, an Exelon-owned public utility. There he led cross-functional teams responsible for building strategic stakeholder engagement, community outreach, and communications strategies that supported the company in securing favorable regulatory, state and local public policy outcomes.

Over the course of his career, Eric has been at the table helping shape strategies and leading the implementation of various initiatives in the areas of marketing communications, organizational change management, brand messaging, community relations, crisis/issues management, executive communications, and ESG.

Outside of the office, Eric is an adjunct faculty professor and serves on the Board of Visitors at the Reed College of Media at West Virginia University. He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., serves on the emerging leaders committee for the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations and is graduate of Leadership Montgomery County. He is passionate about advocating and helping others grow to become their best and authentic selves.

Eric holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Florida A&M University, and a master of science degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from West Virginia University. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., serves on the board of advisors for the After-School All-Stars DC and is graduate of Leadership Montgomery County.
