Bio:

Karen Naumann, APR is a multifaceted, seasoned practitioner with more than 25 years of experience.

She is currently a senior instructor at the U.S. Department of Defense Information School where she trains information warriors for our country in topics ranging from Issues Analysis and Complex Adaptive Systems Thinking to Strategic Foresight and Human-centered Design.

Prior to this, she was an executive at an established D.C. public relations firm. She has also worked in communication and digital diplomacy for the Government of Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Consulate General of Israel to the Southwest United States. Naumann was also a co-owner of a successful Texas-based communications firm.

The award-winning communicator is frequently tapped as a speaker and facilitator for conferences and events on topics ranging from cognitive biases and crisis communications to strategic communications and persuasion.

Naumann is accredited in public relations (APR). Additionally, she graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) with a bachelor’s degree in Communication. Later, she received a master's degree in Communication at the University of Houston. Her graduate studies focused on crisis and health communications.

She is active in the Public Relations Society of America at both a national and local level, the National Press Club, the National Association of Government Communicators, and Washington Women in Public Relations.
