Lt. Col. Michael J. Meridith
Lt. Col. Michael J. Meridith is the senior military officer leading the day-to-day development of force development policy for the more than 6,000 Total Force members of the Air Force Public Affairs career field.
In this capacity he works with senior leaders, academia, industry and other stakeholders to develop developmental, education and training opportunities for the career field.
He has served in the military for more than 33 years (27 years in active duty public affairs) as a member of the Army, Navy and Air Force, to include deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Cuba.
Lt. Col. Meridith has been assigned to the Pentagon twice, including serving as the Air Force’s Chief of Public Affairs Education and Training; at the Headquarters of two of the Air Force’s largest commands, Air Mobility Command and Air Combat Command; and as the Director of Public Affairs for the 18th Air Force, the command responsible for executing the service’s global air mobility mission.
He has experience in media and community relations, crisis communication, and internal information. His current focus is educational and organizational transformation of public affairs to better leverage informational power for Air Force and joint commanders against the Nation’s peer competitors.
He received a Master’s Degree in Communication from George Mason University.
