Bob Jacobs is a recognized executive leader in social media, strategic and crisis communications, and innovative multimedia development.
Bob is the senior career agency spokesperson who excels at helping people and programs find their voice. The agency often records his for special video presentations and science stories. He's earned Webby and Shorty Awards, and multiple national Emmy Awards. Along with the highest commercial industry honors in television and technology, he has earned five agency medals for exceptional service, outstanding leadership, and NASA's highest honor, the Distinguished Service Medal.
Bob is responsible for directing and executing many of the agency's public outreach activities and has directed the development of in-flight imagery for NASA missions and, on the ground, helped develop video on demand and live streaming apps to make NASA Television and other content available across streaming platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Fire, and Roku. Bob led NASA collaboration on "First Man," "Hidden Figures," and "The Martian." He directed a number of public and education events related to agency-supported films, including multimedia projects with Andy Weir, Ridley Scott, Matt Damon, Chris Pratt, Janelle Monáe, Taraji P. Henson, and many others.
A Nashville native, he earned a bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a master's degree from Seton Hall University.
