She is the founder of Hip Rock Star, a trailblazing, award winning, advertising, marketing, and communications agency that focuses exclusively to build today’s socially conscious brands. Under Modkins’ leadership, Hip Rock Star has been nominated as a 2019 Small Business of the Year by the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, received the 2017 Key to Miami from Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez and the Beacon Council, 2017 Goldman Sachs 10K Small Business, 2018 & 2017 Marketing Firm of the Year from the Black Owned Media Alliance, and the 23rd Annual Communicator Award for Integrated Campaign Distinction from the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts.
Her community activism led to her being appointed to the U.S. Census 2020 Task Force for the Miami-Dade Board of Commissioners and the Economic Growth Task Force for the Town of Cutler Bay, FL. Her keen eye as a social architect has led to pinning articles for the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau on top spots to visit in her first love and hometown - Miami, FL. She was hired as the Executive Director of ColorComm Miami. An International organization for Diverse Women in Communications.
She was also listed as Legacy Miami Magazine’s Most Influential & Prominent Black Women in Business & Industry 2018. In 2017 she was awarded as a Women of Substance Honoree by the Miami-Dade County Black Advisory Board, acknowledged as The Legacy Miami Magazine Power PR Professional 2016 awardee, awarded for the South Florida Black Journalist Association 2016 Outstanding Woman in Media, and Listed for Legacy Miami Magazine’s 50 Most Powerful & Influential Black Professionals in Business & Industry List for 2015.
